The new wellness highlight takes its place
While a lot is still happening around it, the panorama igloo sauna has already been allowed to take its place on its designated plateau. Experience the exciting journey from truck to Schutzhütte with us.
Millimeter work during unloading
The panorama igloo sauna lives up to its name and has corresponding dimensions. Carefully delivered by a large truck, the 2.6-ton relaxation igloo had to be lifted out of it. This required not only manpower, but above all a fine hand and good eyes. With extreme caution and in slow motion, we were able to lift the igloo sauna safely out of its transport truck.
But that was only the first step. Because of the shifted center of gravity, it was not easy to put the good piece down on the ground. This required the combined teamwork of our team of experts. Two perfectly coordinated construction workers quickly reached under the sauna from both sides with their vehicles and placed it on the floor as gently as if it were a sleeping baby.
Up to lofty heights
Standing safely on the ground, the panoramic igloo sauna was lifted out of the truck. Now it was time for step no. 2: up onto the sauna plateau. Of course, something bigger was needed for this feat of strength. A construction crane seemed to be just the thing. Here, too, the slightly shifted center of gravity (thanks to the sauna heater) meant that we had to work very carefully and position the risers perfectly. It was also important not to damage the beautiful panoramic window. A mammoth task, but one that both our construction workers and the team of architects on site were able to solve quickly.
Before you knew it, the igloo sauna was taking off to lofty heights. Very slowly, of course, but with a little twist due to the light wind. We’ve never seen a sauna fly before, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. Even if we can’t deny the queasy feeling in our stomachs when we think of the possibility that our floating sauna could make its way back down.
Fortunately, we were able to rule out this scenario and have taken all the necessary safety precautions to ensure safe transportation.
Arriving just above the plateau, our panoramic igloo sauna was brought into position by hand and set down to loud cheers.
The panorama igloo sauna
It’s not just the fabulous view of the Willingen forests that makes the igloo sauna a potential favorite at the Schutzhütte, but also its top-class facilities. The spacious 90°C Finnish sauna has room for 10 people. In future, you can enjoy invigorating sauna sessions here, surrounded by nature and a vacation feeling. Natural ventilation, hooks for bathrobes and diffuse lighting add the finishing touches to the wonderful wellness experience.
Note: The construction progress refers to the status as of August 2025. Changes and adjustments are possible in the further course – but the goal remains: a very special place to feel good.
