Topping-out ceremony in sight

Anyone who has ever stood at the construction fence of the new lifestyle & design hotel Schutzhütte in Willingen will know that something is happening here! Floor by floor, the Hotel Schutzhütte is growing upwards.

1 year after the foundation stone was laid

On 18.06.2024, the laying of the foundation stone was celebrated to the full. Since then, construction of the Schutzhütte has been progressing well. While the first floor has already been stripped and is freely accessible, the first and second floors are also progressing rapidly. Most of the concrete work there has been completed and the formwork has been completely stripped. This means that the majority of the load-bearing shell construction on the lower floors has been completed. The third floor is currently under construction and the shell will be completed with the top floor.

Direct access to the lagoon pool

A highlight for our future guests will be the exclusive access to the newly designed lagoon pool in Willingen. The tunnel will soon connect the Hotel Schutzhütte and the new adventure pool. The walls are currently being erected – an impressive sight. Thanks to direct access from the hotel, guests at the Schutzhütte design hotel will be able to immerse themselves in this fantastic water world in comfort!  

Almost 4,000 Instagram followers

Marketing is also picking up speed. The website is constantly being expanded to include further hotel offers and attractions relating to the lifestyle hotel. The magnificent landscape in Willingen and the wide range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts are already presented under the heading “Active & Nature” and the future area of the Schutzhütte including the igloo sauna with panoramic views is presented under “Wellness & Sport”. This is followed by the many indoor and outdoor attractions, from the Skywalk to the summer toboggan run and climbing hall, before the other hotel offers such as the cuisine, the rooms and the bar with lounge are presented. The website also contains a blog with the latest construction updates and general news. In addition to the website, social media plays an important role. The focus here is on Instagram. Almost 4,000 followers have already been gained through target group-specific communication, collaborations and competitions. There are already over 1,000 fans on Facebook.

Opening in summer 2026

One year after the foundation stone was laid, the topping-out ceremony is due to take place in the fall and about a year before the opening. This is currently planned for summer 2026. “We are really looking forward to it. But there’s still a lot to do before then. With a project so close to our hearts, every detail is important in order to make the future stay at the lifestyle & design hotel Schutzhütte an experience,” says Marc Vollbracht.  

About the Hotel Schutzhütte 

It offers 69 rooms, from double rooms and family rooms to exclusive 70 sqm suites with sauna, as well as 9 chalets, a spa area with saunas and pool, a conference area, a fitness area and bike and ski storage. The direct tunnel connection to the neighboring lagoon pool is particularly noteworthy. Behind the Schutzhütte are Sandra and Marc Vollbracht, who run the Familotel Sonnenpark together.

About the Vollbracht family and the Sonnenpark

Sandra and Marc Vollbracht have been running the multi-award-winning Familotel Sonnenpark in Willingen, which was founded by his parents Karin and Ulrich Vollbracht in 1983, very successfully since 2012. The 4-star hotel offers hotel vacations for the whole family. A total of 170 employees work there every day to ensure that guests have the best family time together all year round. The Vollbracht family has consistently geared the 90 apartments, the entire service and the hotel facilities to the needs of parents and children.
