Anyone who has ever stood at the construction fence of the new lifestyle & design hotel Schutzhütte in Willingen will know that something is happening here! Floor by floor, the Hotel Schutzhütte is growing upwards.
1 year after the foundation stone was laid
On June 18, 2024, the laying of the foundation stone was celebrated to the full. Since then, construction of the Schutzhütte has been progressing well. While the ground floor has already been stripped and is freely accessible, the first and second floors are also progressing rapidly. Most of the concrete work there has been completed and the formwork has been completely stripped. This means that the majority of the load-bearing shell construction on the lower floors has been completed. The third floor is currently under construction, and the shell will be completed with the top floor.
Direct access to the lagoon pool
A highlight for our future guests will be the exclusive access to the newly designed lagoon pool in Willingen. The tunnel will soon connect the Hotel Schutzhütte and the new adventure pool. The walls are currently being placed—an impressive sight. Thanks to direct access from the hotel, guests of the design hotel Schutzhütte will be able to conveniently dive into this fantastic water world!
Almost 4,000 Instagram followers
Marketing is also picking up speed. The website is constantly being expanded with more hotel offers and attractions around the lifestyle hotel. Currently, the “Active & Nature” section already showcases the beautiful landscape in Willingen and the wide range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, while “Wellness & Sport” presents the future area of the Schutzhütte, including the igloo sauna with a panoramic view. Next to follow are the many indoor and outdoor attractions, from the Skywalk and the summer toboggan run to the climbing hall, before further hotel offers such as the culinary delights, the rooms, and the bar with the lounge are introduced. The website also includes a blog with current construction updates and general news. In addition to the website, social media plays a key role. The focus is on Instagram. Through target-group-specific communication, collaborations, and giveaways, almost 4,000 followers have already been gained. On Facebook, there are also already over 1,000 fans.
Opening in summer 2026
One year after the foundation stone was laid is shortly before the topping-out ceremony, which is scheduled for autumn and about one year before the opening. This is currently planned for summer 2026. “We are really looking forward to it. But there is still a lot to do before then. In a project close to our hearts like this, every detail is important to make the future stay at the lifestyle & design hotel Schutzhütte an experience,” says Marc Vollbracht.
About Hotel Schutzhütte
It offers 69 rooms, ranging from double rooms and family rooms to exclusive 70 sqm suites with a sauna, as well as 9 chalets, a spa area with saunas and a pool, a conference area, a fitness area, and bike and ski storage. A highlight is the direct tunnel connection to the neighboring lagoon pool. Behind the Schutzhütte are Sandra and Marc Vollbracht, who together manage the Familotel Sonnenpark.
About the Vollbracht family and the Sonnenpark
Sandra and Marc Vollbracht have been very successfully managing the multi-award-winning Familotel Sonnenpark in Willingen since 2012, which was founded by his parents Karin and Ulrich Vollbracht in 1983. The 4-star hotel offers hotel vacations for the whole family. A total of 170 employees work there every day to ensure guests have the most beautiful family time of the year. The Vollbracht family has consistently geared the 90 apartments, the entire service, and the hotel facilities to the needs of parents and children. But what happens when the children have grown too old for the Sonnenpark? With this question in mind, the idea was born to also look after these guests and their changing vacation needs while still taking families into account.
This passion for the hotel industry is rewarded time and time again. This year, the editors of kinderhotel.info voted Familotel Sonnenpark Germany’s most popular family hotel for the seventh time in a row. Guest reviews on holidaycheck.de also confirm the sophisticated character of the Sonnenpark: the hotel has been one of the annual winners of the HolidayCheck Award since 2013. Sandra and Marc Vollbracht are particularly proud of this, as guest satisfaction is their top priority. “The warmth and attention to detail that we cultivate at the Sonnenpark should also extend to the Schutzhütte,” says Sandra Vollbracht.
